Description
MG MGB ROADSTER HISTORIC RALLY CAR
1964 MG MGB Roadster Historic Classic Rally Car
First registered in February 1964 so a very early car. Used for many years as a rally car and raced in Europe in reliability rallies and other competitive events. Huge race history file accompanies the car which also includes the original buff log book and many letters to and from the MG Clubs. Matching engine and chassis numbers.
CONDITION
It’s a well used car and by no means in concours condition but as a race/rally car, it is very presentable. I don’t know the extent of any engine work, but we had it set up on a dyno recently and it’s giving about 85BHP at the rear wheels with a fast road camshaft. It doesn’t smoke and runs nice and smoothly with no unusual noises. The gearbox is standard with I believe the standard differential and has a properly functioning overdrive unit.
The paintwork is presentable for a race/rally car and the general fit of the bodywork is acceptable. The history file details a lot of bodywork repairs done many years ago by an MG Specialist in Kent. Many pictures and invoices come with the car showing the amount of work done.
The interior is a nice comfortable place to be with all the instruments working properly. The seats have no rips or tears and the car is fitted with 4 point race harnesses. A Terratrip Rally trip computer is fitted to the dashboard along with a flexible rally map light and a digital classic look bluetooth radio. In the passenger’s footwell is a brace panel and fire extinguisher. There is also another fire extinguisher in the car mounted to the rollover bar. Another fire extinguisher is plumbed under the bonnet. An external OFF switch is fitted into the fresh air vent.
The car sits on knock on Minator alloy Minilite replica wheels with nearly new tyres and the spare tyre is unused.
There is a Heritage Certificate confirming the build date and spec as released from the factory.
